Testimonials
” Artur, you are a generous teacher with so much to offer! You have a great heart for people and a beautiful spirit. I am always telling parents about your giftedness and how I am very choosy about who comes to teach for me. One of the first things that I noticed about you Artur was your humility and integrity. I love very much that you give each dancer attention and everyone has worth in your eyes as an artist and developing dancer”.
–Damaris Caughlan, Artistic Director of Metropolitan Ballet of Tacoma
“I have attended MBT’s Summer Dance Intensive Week in the summer of 2008 and 2009 with Artur Sultanov, guest artist, principal dancer from OBT. He taught me: barre work, ballet, pointe, modern, spanish-russian, character and partnering classes. I loved the way he made me feel accepted and encouraged me to learn and dance to my fullest potential. He demonstrates dance moves with precise, sharp and clean professional techniques but with a joyful, loving, kind and creative spirit. He most recently taught and completed an original piece for MBT company members, a very powerful modern piece, that we can use for any dance audition, called “You Found Me” by the Fray. Thank you for always sharing your special and unique gift of dance with others who love to dance too and bringing out the very best in each one of us. I look forward to another exciting summer dance week with you in 2010!”
–Melissa Sugita, Metropolitan Ballet of Tacoma student
“Artur Sultanov carries within him the best of the Russian tradition
in classical training combined with wide experience in both neo-classical and
contemporary dance. He is a brilliant artist and educator.”
–Alonzo King, Choreographer, Artistic Director, and founder of Alonzo Kings Lines Ballet in SF, Ca.
“Artur Sultanov has been a superb dancer and movement artist in a great range of styles. Always a top choice for choreographers, besides his notable contribution as leading dancer with the Oregon Ballet Theatre, he has been a guest artist with a number of other major companies able to be perfectly adept at the most classical and most contemporary work as well. He will surely bring as high a standard to his work as a teacher as he did to his life as dancer.”
–Lar Lubovitch, Highly acclaimed American choreographer and founder of Lar Lubovitch Dance Company
“Mr. Sultanov was my teacher last summer. It was really fun to study with such an amazing dancer. I think he is a great teacher and he taught me my first character dance. I also learned new stretches that improved my flexibility. He taught me good warm up exercises that really warmed me up! He is such a wonderful dancer. When he dances he makes it very grand so it is so special to watch him. He is nice and he smiles a lot too. It was an honor to have Mr. Sultanov teaching me. Studying with him was a great experience. He is a dancer and teacher that I will always look up to.”
–Raina, age 11
“Artur Sultanov is a dancer with a wealth of sensitivity and depth that betray his giant frame. A presence onstage that is impossible to take your eyes off of, he will constantly surprise with nuance, vulnerability, excellent technique, and a completely unique movement quality. I feel fortunate to have had the experience of making work with him because these qualities are just as apparent in the studio as he treats the creative process with reverence and curiosity. I very much look forward to seeing him share these gifts with the lucky students who will attend his school.”
–Trey McIntyre, founder and Artistic Director of Trey McIntyre Dance Project, former Resident Choreographer of OBT
